A woman and a 2-year-old girl were injured in drone attacks that have been recorded since June 17 in the rural area of El Plateado, in Argelia, Cauca.

The attack left homes damaged and was attributed to FARC dissidents. The residents of the homes indicated that, although there were no serious injuries, some did suffer hearing loss due to the noise.

“A bomb fell here, all over the roof. There were five of us, fortunately nothing happened to us, but we are very scared because they are shooting at the town from a hill, from the other side,” said Jorge Ramos, owner of one of the homes.

Another bomb also fell on the other house. In these days two bombs have fallen, the last one fell in our hardware store,” the man added.

Authorities attribute the incident to FARC dissidents. Apparently, the armed group intended to attack the Army.

It is worth remembering that in this same municipality, constant attacks with drones equipped with explosives have been reported, such as the one that occurred on June 6 in the El Pepinal village.

“Unconventional weapons are being used, drones, which due to their lack of accuracy are falling near schools and homes, putting our civilian population at risk. From the Government of the department of Cauca we reject the use of this type of weapons, especially when they endanger our children and the civilian population,” said the Secretary of the Government of Cauca, Míller Hurtado.

According to preliminary information, the dissident group known as the ‘Second Marquetalia’ is receiving international advice to implement these advanced combat tactics, which it is using against Army troops.

Meanwhile, after a month of being hospitalized In a healthcare center in Cali, in the last few hours the death of Emma Mercedes Ipujan was confirmed. The woman was the only survivor of the terrorist attack by the FARC dissidents in the rural area of Miranda, northern Cauca, which occurred on May 17.

The attack occurred around 1:45 that day and took place between the Guengue bridge and the stream known as Las Cañas, on the way down to the La Munda village.

In the days of the events, Emma Mercedes and her 12-year-old son were traveling on a motorcycle when an explosive charge detonated.

Both mother, son and the driver of the vehicle went flying. The little boy, identified as Yhan Steban Villafañe, died immediately.

In that attack, the woman and the motorcycle taxi driver, Luis Ovidio Rodríguez, were transferred to the Fundación Valle del Lili Hospital in Cali. However, the man who, when admitted, had multiple trauma in unstable conditions, died hours later in the middle of emergency surgery.

After less than fighting for her life, the woman died. It is expected that Emma’s body will be transferred to the municipality of Miranda, where her last farewell will be made.
