Winter Campaign launched for homeless people in Tarapacá

The UNAP Work Foundation, together with the SEREMI of Health and the SEREMI of Social Development and Family, has launched its winter campaign, aimed at providing safe shelters for homeless people during the coldest nights of winter.

Mario Cortés, executive director of the UNAP Work Foundation, highlighted the importance of this initiative as a “social instance that we have as a foundation to invite the community and make them understand that the coldest seasons are coming in the region. Therefore, we try to provide shelter together with the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Health.”

The SEREMI of Health of Tarapacá, David Valle, stressed the importance of protecting these people with all the necessary measures to avoid winter diseases. “It is important that we have these people protected with vaccination issues, with the review of healthy child controls and the delivery of food. We are going to continue working together with the Ministry of Social Development to strengthen the health of these people to avoid situations that we could regret,” he stated.

For his part, SEREMI of Social Development and Family, Cristian Jara, added: “As a government, we are interested in serving all homeless people, especially children, so that they have better well-being. They are incorporated into schools, in well-child checkups and in vaccines.”

During the launch, winter kits financed by the SEREMI for Social Development and Family were delivered. These kits contained sweatshirts, coats, first furs, hats, thermal blankets and a cleaning kit, providing essential support for those most in need during the winter.
