Detectives from the La Serena Robbery Investigative Brigade carried out the investigation with the Focos Prosecutor’s Office and arrested three members of this criminal structure.

The rigorous work of criminal analysis and police intelligence carried out by the detectives of the La Serena Robbery Investigative Brigade in conjunction with the Investigative Focus Prosecutor’s Office, had positive results to establish the participation of a dangerous criminal gang in various violent crimes in the conurbation. .

“Detectives from this specialized unit managed to disrupt this criminal gang made up of highly dangerous individuals, who approached their victims, intimidating them violently and using a firearm. Through various criminal analysis techniques, we were able to establish that after violating the victims, they stole the remittance from a service center and under the same modus operandis, at the home of a micro-businesswoman, where they stole the payment of their workers’ salaries,” said the subprefect Fernando Rojas, head of the La Serena Robbery Investigative Brigade.

“With the evidence we were able to identify the defendants and we requested their arrest warrant before the court, which authorized the entry and search of private homes and the workplace of one of them, in a barbershop in Coquimbo. Three defendants were arrested and charged with the crimes of robbery with intimidation and robbery with a modified firearm, so we requested preventive detention because we considered that their freedom represents a danger to society and the Coquimbo Guarantee Court agreed, granting this precautionary measure,” reported the Focos Prosecutor, Nicolás Schertzer.

The Operation called “The Internationals”, establishes the participation of 2 Colombian citizens and 1 Ecuadorian, of legal age and in a regular immigration situation. The subjects were detained in homes in La Serena and Coquimbo after the intervention of the La Serena Robbery Investigative Brigade with units from the Elqui Provincial Prefecture, while the court granted 110 days to complete the investigation proceedings.
