To the surprise of many, it will disappear from our country, thanks to a blackout that will stop it from working in several sectors. Marking a historical milestone since it arrived.

When will the 2G Network Blackout begin in Chile?

With the aim of starting by highlighting this tool; the 2G networkwas very useful as soon as it was established in the world. Thanks to it, calls could be established between mobile phones. Added to which are the important SMS messages, and which was the first digital mobile network.

After this, phones can now use the well-known 3G, 4G and even the 5G. Making the pioneer practically obsolete in several areas.

As confirmed by the La Tercera outlet; It was in 2012 when it greatly predominated in cell phones, in companies like Entel. However, now it is about 1% who continue to use it.

This is how since it was decided that these will no longer go, being a total blackout process, which will begin in July of this year.

All this will arrive in different months; following this order by region:

  • July 2024: Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Antofagasta and Atacama.
  • August 2024: Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitana, Aysén and Magallanes.
  • September 2024: Araucanía, Los Ríos and Los Lagos.
  • October 2024: O’Higgins, Maule, Ñuble and Bío Bío.
