Faced with this scenario, where the price of electricity bills will increase for families, Congressman Calisto assured that “we proposed, and it is a proposal that we made from the UDI to the Communist Party, that is, absolutely transversal, the need for “The government advances a different system, which talks about the renegotiation of contracts with electricity companies, in such a way as to change the terms.”
In that sense, he argued that “when the first deals were made with electricity companies there were no non-conventional renewable energies, it was another time (…) Today we have an important contribution in terms of non-conventional renewable energy and the logical thing, which we understand, is that when there is a contribution of non-conventional renewable energies, that must be reflected on the ballot.”
In addition, the Democrats parliamentarian pointed out that La Moneda’s solution “is a subsidy that is $9 thousand, which was initially for one million people, today they are projecting it for one and a half million. That is to say, the $9 thousand are no longer going to be on average for families, it will surely be $5 thousand or $6 thousand.”
Along the same lines, he maintained that “the government here, first, had double talk with Congress, it did not provide all the information. He said the increase was not going to be this year and it turns out it will be this year. He said that the increase was going to be an average of 12% and it will be an average of 30%.”
