The governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, announced that he rejected an invitation from the High Commissioner for Peace, Otty Patiño, to be part of a dialogue table this Thursday in the municipality of Yarumal, with the Central General Staff of the FARC.
The governor pointed out that if peace is wanted, there must be signs of good will, which in his opinion has not only not been evident in the department but that these people “sow terror” in the subregions of the North, Northeast and Bajo Cauca. where the civilian population has been a victim of extortion, recruitment, terrorism, homicides, displacement and confinement due to the presence and actions of this illegal group.
“The answer from the government of Antioquia is no. The FARC signed a peace agreement and here they ask me to sit with those who have not complied with it. These criminals have done nothing to show good intentions in the departmentOn the contrary, they sow terror,” the president reiterated.
Rendón defended that during this year, he has held open dialogues with those reincorporated who laid down their weapons and also with the victims. Regarding the FARC, he maintained that After signing a peace agreement, sitting down with those who derived from it is doing so with “those who have failed to comply.”
In the letter signed by Patiño, it is read that the purpose of this meeting will be to address and build a territorial transformation plan for peace in the north of Antioquia.
“The public peace policy of the National Government is important for its support, knowledge and contributions to achieving territorial transformations for peace“says the letter.
