(NAP) Specialists of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology of Argentina mapped the relative density of the leafhopper population and presented the first monitoring results.

“For the first time, the population density of the leafhopper in Entre Ríos was mapped,” he noted. Adriana Saluso, researcher at the Inta Paraná Entomology Laboratory, who did not hesitate to emphasize that “This information is updated every two weeks, is available online and is freely accessible.”
And he added: “The systematization of this updated information will provide the producer an estimate of the number of leafhoppers you can find per hectare, which may vary according to climatic conditions, anticipating the existing population in the system.” Thus, it is possible to analyze population fluctuation in relation to the various variables that are taken into account.
This map is an achievement that is part of Inta’s national strategy for monitoring the leafhopper and It will be replicated in other provinces to have information on a national scale.
The objective is to cover nearly 1,400 km from north to south, from Inta Yuto -Jujuy- to Inta Balcarce -Buenos Aires- and 750 km from east to west, from Inta San Luis to Inta Concepción del Uruguay -Entre Ríos -.
