Cuba aspires to 200 thousand tourists from Russia in 2024 and half a million in the coming years

Russia turns out to be, currently, the third issuing market for tourists to Cuba and the one that is growing the most in 2024.

The Cuban Ministry of Tourism continues its commitment to the Russian market, in order to be able to lift the sector from the lethargy it has found itself in since the pandemic.

Official figures already indicate an improvement in tourism in 2024 compared to 2023 data, marking an increase of 4.1% until the month of April.

The arrival of Russian tourism, in addition to the classic push of travelers from Canada, constitute the drivers of the still discrete recovery.

As of April 2024, more than 88,000 visitors of Russian nationality had arrived in Cuba. That is, double that in that same period of 2023.

The Cuban Ministry of Tourism highlights that the tourist centers of Varadero and Cayo Coco continue to show high occupancy. The prospects continue to grow, and the interest and desire of Russian visitors to come to Cuba remains, which is truly manifested here at this fair.’

The minister himself, Juan Carlos García, on a recent visit to Moscow, assured that Cuba aspires to receive 200,000 Russian tourists in 2024 and up to half a million who would arrive ‘in the coming years’.
