New hypothesis in the Loan case: did Perez from San Juan run over him?

A new hypothesis would cause an unexpected turn in the investigation into the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña, the five-year-old boy who has been missing for 14 days in the province of Corrientes.

The photo taken by Camila Peña, Loan’s cousin, was added to the case and could change the direction of the search. As TN learned, in it the minor is seen taking an orange from the orange grove and that verifies the version that Benítez, Ramírez and Millapi, as well as the children, had given.

With confirmation that the five-year-old boy was in the orange tree, investigators seek to establish what happened next. Where did he go and how did they lose sight of him before returning to Grandma Catalina’s house.

This is where the hypothesis comes in that Carlos Pérez and María Victoria Caillava from San Juan could have run over Loan when they were leaving, after having notified the Peña family that they were leaving the place to go watch the River game.

Sanjuanino Carlos Pérez and his wife.

Police sources confirmed that the theory that the boy ran out of the orange tree and was just hit by the truck driven by the former Navy captain from San Juan was being vigorously investigated.

In this context, it is suspected that Pérez and the former official from July 9 could have taken Loan after running him over to discard the body at some other point, whether from July 9, Corrientes or Chaco, where they were also.

Federal Justice knows that after lunch five cell phone antennas were activated in the field owned by Pérez and Caillava, located just over three kilometers from grandmother Catalina’s house.

For this reason, and because of key testimony that was added to the case in the last few hours, the searches this Thursday morning focused on that field which is reached by a small internal road.

The Federal Police began in the early hours of the morning with a visual inspection and then deployed an operation to the site that included police officers with sticks and sniffer dogs.

Gustavo Briend, the lawyer for Loan’s mother and brother Danilo Peña, said that they are not ruling out “any hypothesis,” but he stressed that “the main hypothesis is that of trafficking.”

“I believe that there are other people linked, there are external agents linked to this case and we do not rule out other versions. I think there may be news in the coming days,” Briend said this Thursday at noon.
