Colombia selection

One of the most important players in the history of the country is Carlos Valderrama, who despite failing to win this title, trusts that in the 2024 edition the dream of many Colombians will finally be fulfilled.

“I am optimistic about the Colombian National Team, because of the process and the results it has been giving. Not only because of that, but also because of the way of playing. We have a team that is undefeated and that has been playing well,” commented the remembered player in the middle of a publicity event.

Since his retirement and because of what it means for football, Valderrama has remained linked to the sport with his statements and opinions regarding the current situation of the national team. Regarding the 10 of the National Team, El Pibe stated that: “We know that number 10 of the Colombian National Team is James Rodríguez, but Juan Fernando Quintero, Yaser Asprilla and Jorge Carrascal are there ready to enter. It is a position in which the coach will not have any problem.”

On the other hand, in statements given to Dsports, Valderrama confessed that this selection gives him peace of mind. “The advantage that Néstor Lorenzo had when he arrived is that he had already been there (in the National Team as a technical assistant) I knew the people and the players. The renovation has been quite good and that has helped this beautiful process,” he commented.

Colombia will make its debut against Paraguay this Monday, June 24 at 5:00 pm (Colombian time) at the NRG stadium, formerly known as Reliant Stadium, located in Houston, United States.
