Last night, members of the Argentine Naval Prefecture dismantled a smuggling maneuver and seized a shipment of illegal merchandise, valued at more than 41 million pesos, within the framework of the control tasks carried out in the border area to prevent crime. .
The criminal maneuver was detected during a patrol carried out in the “El Mangal” area, where the personnel noticed a truck, at kilometer 216 of the Paraguay River, that was loaded with packages.
On suspicion of being involved in an illegal act, the vehicle, belonging to a parcel delivery company, was stopped on National Route No. 11 and, with the help of Mía, a dog from the Institution trained for special operations, the staff checked the cargo and confirmed that it was merchandise entered into the country illegally.
In this context, the Prefecture identified a 54-year-old man and seized covers of different vehicles and appliances without customs endorsement, with a market value that exceeds 41,600,000 pesos.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office No. 1, headed by Dr. Marisa Vázquez, intervenes in the incident.
