Retired soldier shot a group of young people in La Serena News

During the early hours of last weekend, and outside the Hangar and Kamikaze nightclubs -located in La Serena-, a man fired several shots at a group of young people, hitting Renzo Bazan and Alexander Pereira, who are currently life-threatening in the city hospital. However, as the hours passed, the shooter’s first background information was revealed: he was a retired military man who was intoxicated.

According to information published by the newspapers El Día and La Región, the former military man intimidated passers-by, shot, and was then detained by Carabineros, and placed at the disposal of the Guarantee Court of La Serena, where the Prosecutor’s Office requested to extend the detention, to collect more background.

However, and after several doubts regarding the identity of the former military man, El Ciudadano had access to his arrest record, where it was found that his name is Daniel Lueiza González, 54 years old, arrested for the crime of frustrated homicide, and who was transferred to the 1st Police Station of La Serena.

When reviewing Lueiza’s background, it is also possible to confirm that he was a non-commissioned officer of the Army, and was decorated in September 2019 with the mention “For Great Military Merit”, for his 30 years of service in the institution.

Finally, we are still waiting for the formalization hearing against Daniel Lueiza.
