They outline a departmental route to strengthen access to higher education

In order for access to higher education to reach every corner of the Department and continue impacting the lives of young people and their families, the University of Magdalena undertook a route of signing 11 cooperation framework and specific agreements of the Talento Magdalena inclusion program.

Together with the interdisciplinary team assigned to the Vice-Rector’s Office for Extension and Social Projection, which supports management in the territory, he began this tour of the Magdalena in the municipality of Concordia, which hosted the event at the Departmental Basic and Secondary Educational Institution -Indebameco- .

In the presence of beneficiary students, parents, members of the municipal cabinet, rectors and eleventh grade students of educational institutions, Rector Pablo Vera Salazar highlighted the commitment of the National and municipal governments to higher education and free policies.

Dr. Pablo Vera Salazar ratified his commitment to the Concordia community to continue transforming lives through education.

“We continue to bring more young people from the territories to study relevant and key programs for the development of communities. Nearly 2,400 have achieved that goal and we are approaching the first 100 graduates.” Said the Rector Pablo Vera Salazar.

The top university manager also referred to the achievements for Concordia, such as the expansion of 12 new places and the permanence of 60 favored students, of which two are already graduates with the Unimagdalena seal.

“Very happy to find several young people who are already completing their training process; Parents are also happy and grateful for the opportunity that has been given to their children.” Said Doctor Vera.

For his part, the municipal mayor of Concordia, Pedro de Jesús Ospino Castro, expressed his willingness to continue working hand in hand with the Alma Mater, to transform lives at through education and pondering the role of young people as the architects of the development of their territory.

“The Mayor’s Office of Concordia has every intention of contributing to these programs, with resources, with places; so that our graduates can train professionally and “that we all create synergy in order to continue educating and acquiring knowledge.” President Pedro de Jesús Ospino Castro said.

Eleventh grade students from the Concordia IED attended the signing ceremony, where the news of the expansion of 12 places for Talento Magdalena was announced.


Edilfredo De La Hoz Ramos, a sixth semester student of the Industrial Engineering Program and a native of the town of Bellavista (Concordia), told of his experience as a Talento Magdalena scholarship recipient and who left in times of pandemic (2020-2023) heading to Santa Marta to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional.

“I am proud that these future generations, with the help of this agreement, will take advantage of this worthwhile scholarship. The University of Magdalena is very welcoming, it has its doors open to help us as people, to prepare ourselves in the best way and be a professional”. Expressed the young Edilfredo De La Hoz Ramos.

Unimagdalena will continue to be committed to carrying hope on this Talento Magdalena route, which will extend until Friday, June 21, visiting the municipalities of Zapayán, Plato, Nueva Granada, Chibolo, Guamal, Pijiño del Carmen, San Zenón, Ariguaní, Sabanas de San Ángel and The Retain.
