This June 20 and 21, a fair and expo will be held in Aysén, focused on the indigenous culture of Chile, on the occasion of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The activity, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 8:00 p.m., will coincide with a long weekend, allowing many attendees to enjoy a time of recreation and learning.

Pablo Coliboro, coordinator of the Local Economic Development program, explained that the fair and expo “is inspired by our native peoples, to value the living heritage, the history of those who arrived first and those who were part of the development and, obviously, today day they are also part of the development and of what happens in the commune of Aysén.” The event will feature a peasant and craft fair, mypes, local products, traditional food and various workshops. Featured activities include Huilliche and Mapuche language courses, medicinal herbs, ancestral cosmetics, basket weaving and weaving.

Alicia Rivera, owner of “El rinconcito más succulent,” valued previous experiences at municipal fairs and highlighted the organization of the event. “I am very grateful for the possibility that the municipality gives us to show our work. We are happy with this activity and we feel increasingly united. Thank the officials who are in charge of this activity and the production company; These meetings have been good for us, that is, not only financially, but sharing with more women and more entrepreneurs is very beneficial for us,” said Rivera. The fair and expo will feature the presence of special guests such as the national band “Colelo Identidad Mapuche” and the regional rapper “Yntro.”
