Authorities from the Ministry of Transportation have just reported a plane accident that occurred in central Cuba, specifically in the province of Sancti Spíritus. So far these are the details from the officialdom.

According to the Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, these are the details: “At 9 am today, June 20, during flights in the interest of caring for the crops of the Rice Company in the South of Jíbaro, province of Sancti Spíritus, an M-18 aircraft belonging to the National Air Services Company (ENSA) crashed.”

“The accident occurred south of the town of Peralejo, in the La Sierpe municipality. The captain of this aircraft suffered minor injuries. A commission from the Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Cuba investigates the causes of this plane accident,” he added on his Facebook profile.

Regarding the plane crash in Sancti Spíritus, in central Cuba, on June 20, Cubans gave a positive opinion about the Minister’s timely information and celebrated that there were no human losses to be regretted.

“That accident is unfortunate. It’s good that the pilot is fine”, “It’s good that the pilot did not suffer serious damage. Speedy recovery” or “If the man’s life is not in danger, everything else can be fixed, however, the scare must have been great, let him celebrate it,” were some of the opinions on the matter.

In this regard, the Sancti Spiritus radio offered more details, such as that it was a small plane of the so-called “dromedaries” that crashed this Thursday morning near the town of Peralejo, in the Sancti Spiritus municipality of La Sierpe.

The pilot, Armando Leyva Sosa, 57 years old, suffered a simple head trauma and decompensation of blood pressure, according to Dr. Eduardo Contreras Lara, director of Regional Base No. 10 of the Sancti Spíritus Integrated Medical Emergency System.

Leyva Sosa was transferred to the provincial hospital for a “deep evaluation, but there is no report of danger to life,” they say.
