Municipal Elections 2024

Municipal Elections 2024

This Sunday, June 9, the Primary Elections in Chile 2024 are being held in some communes of our country.

The voting spectrum will go to the voting centers to elect the candidates for governors and mayors in the next municipal elections, which will take place on October 27.
Voting will take place in the regions of Coquimbo and Aysén to elect candidates for governor. Specifically, the candidates for mayor will be defined exclusively in 60 communes of the national territory.

Voting in the 2024 Primary Elections is voluntary. This is why those who do not attend the polling places, having the possibility of voting because the commune or region is part of the process, will not be subject to sanctions or fines.

Despite this, the case of mese vowels is very different. The members have the legal obligation to appear at the voting centers to contribute to the realization of the civic event.

Under this context, if a member is absent, they risk the sanctions that the law indicates, which can be a fine of between 2 to 8 UTM ($131,000 to $524,000 approximately) as published by ADN.cl.
