Photo | Archive | LA PATRIA The Manizales International Theater Festival (FITM) is juggling to be held in 2024.

The realization of the Manizales International Theater Festival (FITM) this year due to budget deficit.

A situation that is not new, only this year it is exacerbated, since the Manizales Mayor’s Office has not yet paid the $160 million debt left by Octavio Cardona’s administrationand that he also did not pay that of Carlos Mario Marín, despite having a court order to pay.

Besides, The Mayor’s Office of Jorge Eduardo Rojas announced that his contribution will only be $100 millionthe same as the last four years, lower than the previous years.

The contributions in 2019 corresponded to 193 SMMLV, today they are only 77 SMMLV, which means a reduction of 60%.

The FITM, in the last three years, has been able to be done with contributions from the central government and companies that are not from Caldas.

The local contribution from public and private companies is only 16%.

Will this be the treatment that this cultural heritage of the city deserves? Are we going to let the FITM die?
