Director of Social Prosperity, Gustavo Bolívar, visits La Jagua de Ibirico

La Jagua de Ibirico was the setting for the Conversation on the Mining-Energy Transition for the “Corridor of Life”, an initiative immersed in the National Development Plan led by the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro. This meeting seeks to promote productive diversification to improve the economy and generate sustainable development in the territories.

During the event, the Director of Social Prosperity was warmly received by the community. «Doctor Gustavo Bolívar, welcome to La Jagua de Ibirico, a land whose origins are in agriculture and that has suffered after the sudden departure of the Prodeco coal mine. It is necessary that there be a socioeconomic transition, a productive diversification, an industrialization of our territory, and we need the support of the National Government,” said Leonardo Hernández, leader of the jagüeros.

The main objective of these projects is to promote the economic and social development of the region, aligning with the goals of sustainability and well-being for all inhabitants.

The “Life Corridor” conversation represents a significant step towards the implementation of strategies that allow La Jagua de Ibirico and other regions affected by the mining-energy transition to find new opportunities and improve the quality of life of its residents.
