Operation Smile returns to Cesar: Free surgeries for

The Operation Smile Foundationrepresentative in Colombia of the international organization Operation Smileannounced his return to the department of Cease with a new medical surgical program. This program will offer specialized assessments and free surgeries to children and young people affected by cleft lip and palate in Valledupar.

On Thursday, June 20, Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, two phases of the program will take place. In the first phase, assessments will be carried out on approximately 50 patients. In the second phase, reconstructive surgeries will be carried out for about 35 patients in the High Complexity Medical Clinic of the Caribbean.

The program will have the participation of 45 volunteers and collaborators from Bogotá, Medellín, La Guajira and Boyacá, specialized in anesthesiology, plastic surgery, psychology, nursing, dentistry, nutrition, pediatrics and social work. These professionals come together with the goal of transforming the lives of boys, girls and their families in Cesar, offering not only surgical interventions, but also comprehensive support throughout the entire process.

“Operación Sonrisa thus reaffirms its commitment to the health and well-being of the most vulnerable, reestablishing smiles and hope in the Valledupar community,” said Marcela Tamayo, Executive Director of the Operación Sonrisa foundation.
