Four bets were found in Guaviare to relate and that will serve as input for the update of Colombia’s Biodiversity Action Plan, which will be taken to COP16 to be held in the city of Cali, said Diana Carolina Rodríguez Alegría, from the area of Sustainable Development of the Ministry of the Environment.

The official highlighted that 150 people participated in this event, where there was presence of institutions, environmental authorities, the Sinchi Institute, organizations of Indigenous communities, black communities and youth organizations. This COP16 tour carried out in San José del Guaviare was considered a day that yielded important results and a good number of inputs that identify the communities’ bets and that will serve to update the Biodiversity Action Plan of Colombia.

In her opinion, the sectional director of the CDA Corporation, Luisa Fernanda Rave, states that the commitment to building peace with nature is the main position of the communities of the Guaviare department, as expressed in her participation in the #RumboALaCOP16 tour, held in San José del Guaviare.

The sustainable Colombia fund, represented by Camila González, as an international cooperation fund that was also present at the #RumboALaCOP16 tour workshop, announced the execution of three specific projects: one an alliance for forests in conjunction with indigenous communities. He pointed out that in this scenario the communities have the space to make their problems visible and present their bets or requests aimed at strengthening and conserving the Territory’s Biodiversity.

Among the contributions presented by the black communities of the Guaviare department, but especially those settled in the municipalities of Calamar and El Retorno that included the former mayor of Calamar, Rohyman Giovanny Garcés, they expressed the commitment they have with this territory in Ensuring the protection of biodiversity makes them “Guardians of the Jungle”.

For their part, the representatives of the young people presented as a priority that they be guaranteed a generational replacement and a strengthening of capacities, was what Kevin Adrián Galindo, Municipal Youth Councilor of El Retorno Guaviare, expressed. He indicated that here the role of young people is of vital importance, since it is this population that is called to propose feasible strategies thinking about the future of humanity with respect to the value that should be given to the environment and our Biodiversity.
