Rossi on the Church in an opposition role to Milie: “there are times when they purposely confuse”

On the outskirts of Córdoba, in the last corner of the capital, a mass was held to recognize the women who support the neighborhood soup kitchens. She was called “Mothers of the Homeland.” The main provincial and municipal officials linked to the areas of Human and Social Development attended. The religious ceremony began around 11, in the Monseñor Enrique Angelelli y Compañeros Mártires chapel, located in the Villa Angelelli 2 neighborhood.

Ángel Rossi is an important man in the sphere of the Church. He is not only a great friend of Pope Francis, he is a weaver in the territory. The archbishop of Córdoba pushes and pulls, gathers and builds. Obviously, holding a mass to recognize the work in the dining rooms and picnic areas is something that generates double readings. Automatically. But to the interpretation of gestures, the cardinal responded bluntly: “there are times when they are confused on purpose.”

Several leaders, union members and politicians attended the mass. The second lines were within the humble parish. It was part of an action that was repeated in other places in the country, to highlight “so many women who every day ‘put the country on their shoulders’ from popular, solidarity and parish soup kitchens,” reported the official invitation. In Córdoba, the village priest Pablo Viola served as host.

The distribution of food and criticism of the church

The celebration was led by the president of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, Monsignor Óscar Ojea. Rossi and Viola emphasized that these masses should not be confused with other recent celebrations, which have had a political overtone. “One thing is what this mass is and another thing is the mass that we are organizing for these days,” Viola explained to Cadena 3.

For his part, the archbishop warned that there are sectors that intentionally put the church in a place. “Many are assuming or imagining a bravado against I don’t know who, we have to step out so that things don’t happen. Sometimes they confuse us on purpose,” he bluntly told Perfil Córdoba.

The meaning of the mass is to recognize and value the women who work every day in the neighborhoods to feed those most in need. “We do not come to put on any flag or put on any other flags. This is bigger, we do not come to champion ourselves but to champion those who in all times but especially these times perform the wonder of caring for fragilities. They are clear that the crossed arms of the indifferent are not allowed. “It is not the fashion of a pontificate,” she highlighted in her homily.

“We want to recognize the women who work daily in the neighborhoods in different places, such as in a small house, in a garage, in a chapel, in a community hall, in a neighborhood center and do what they do not have to be able to bring food to our people and they take care of life and feed it,” said Viola.

“Some can do more and others can do less, the important thing is that we help. We all have to get out of this, businessmen, politicians, leaders, journalists, everyone. We are worse in some aspects, we must not let up,” Rossi told reporters.

Viola, in turn, called for reflection and action: “The best thing would be for everyone to eat at home as a result of their work.” Both recognized that the provincial and municipal governments provide aid or contributions, although “it is always necessary further”.
