In an act captured on video, Laura Carla Moisá Elicabide took her oath to assume the position of vice chancellor of the National University, Medellín headquarters. The act It has caused great controversy, since the person taking the oath mentions the “constituent assembly” as the governing body of Moisá’s position.
The appointment of the vice-rector was made by Leopoldo Múnera, the new rector of the institution since last June 11, 2024. And today, formally and before an audience, he took office, swearing before the constitution.
“Do you swear by the assembly, by the Constitution and the university to loyally and faithfully carry out the position of vice-rector of the headquarters?”
After this, the new vice chancellor, raising her right hand, swore by the National Constituent Assembly her commitment to the fundamental principles of the university and the country.
“Do you swear to look after the interests of the community with integrity and commitment? (…) If he does so, let the constituent assembly reward him and if not, let him demand it.” the person in charge of Moses’ oath is heard.

Laura Carla Moisá Elicabide is an economist, has a master’s degree in Economic Sciences and a doctor in Economic Development from this same university. Since 2008 she has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Human and Economic Sciences.
