The Master Adrián Rosado, coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design at the Universidad Anáhuac México, highlights the relevance of Industrial Design both in society and in the Faculty of Design.

This June 29 marks International Industrial Design Day, a celebration that emerged in 2007 by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) with the purpose of promoting and recognizing the profession. This is because, on that same date but in 1957, this organization was founded, which has evolved and is currently known as the World Design Organization (WDO). This non-governmental entity, in addition to promoting the profession, develops various activities to promote better products, systems, services, experiences, and the growth of industries and businesses, always putting emphasis on the environment and social development. Currently, it has more than 170 members from 40 countries who collaboratively contribute to creating solutions and good Design practices.

Industrial Design is one of the disciplines that can be considered fundamental for the economic development of a country, since each one has different needs and problems, which become opportunities to be addressed from this area.

For 20 years, the Faculty of Design through the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design has been part of this organization and has participated in different editions of assemblies and events of the World Design Capital. Without a doubt, this branch of Design has been one of the main pillars in the history of the Faculty of Design: “In many ways, the history of the School of Design of the Anáhuac University is inherited from its time. It was born under the shelter of the School of Architecture, when, from this discipline, the need to venture into different areas that solve the daily tasks of human life through the Design and production of everything that occupies the architectural space is recognized. and this was one of the reasons why the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design was inaugurated in 1975.” Tappan Martha, History Trajectories and Horizons Reflections on the Teaching and Practice of Design, 2013, Research and Higher Studies SC
