Two women, ages 20 and 23, were murdered in Santiago del Estero. They found their bodies with multiple stab wounds, inside a car, in a rural area of that province. Due to the double femicide, the boyfriend of one of them was arrested.
The relatives of Luz Nair Banegas and Morena Banegas, aunt and niece respectively, began to worry about both on Tuesday night, after neither reported when they returned from Primary Education teaching, where they attended together.
Following the police report, a police operation was deployed between the city of La Banda and several areas of Robles, which led to the discovery on Wednesday morning of a gray Gol brand car, approximately 150 meters from Route No. 5, in the where the murdered women were found with signs of violence.
The crime zone is located between Santa Elena and Villa Hipólita, about 40 kilometers from the provincial capital.
The same night that the young women disappeared, a 21-year-old boy showed up at the Comprehensive Health Center in the city of La Banda, seeking medical attention for a wound on one of his hands. He was cut and entered with a lot of blood, according to the same local media.
The man was identified as Gabriel Cejas and was Morena Banegas’ boyfriend. The young man claimed that he had been the victim of a robbery by three hooded men who took his motorcycle, cell phone and jacket.
Indeed, the police set out to look for the alleged thieves and found his jacket and a diver, which was near a canal, with blood stains. As the report was made simultaneously to find out the whereabouts of the two missing women, the young man was arrested and accused of being the main suspect in the double femicide.
