The town of Chinoblas in the municipality of Pivijay has been severely affected by a flood that left numerous families in an emergency situation. The heavy rains that have fallen in the region over the past few days caused local bodies of water to overflow, resulting in significant damage to homes and crops.

Faced with this crisis, the mayor of Pivijay, Jorge Iván Salah, has launched an immediate and coordinated response plan. The Secretary of Works, Farid Pérez, is leading the efforts to find structural solutions that mitigate current damage and prevent future flooding.

The measures taken include the reinforcement of dikes and the cleaning of drainage channels, in addition to the installation of water extraction pumps in the most affected areas.

Simultaneously, José Rodríguez, coordinator of Education, Culture and Sports, has collaborated closely with the Magdalena Government to distribute humanitarian aid. So far, all affected families have received markets and emergency kits, ensuring access to food and basic supplies during this contingency.

On the other hand, under the direction of Dr. Sandra Cardozo, the Ministry of Health has deployed a comprehensive operation in the township. With the support of the Santander Herrera Hospital, home visits have been made to evaluate and treat all residents, especially those affected by severe respiratory symptoms resulting from the unsanitary conditions after the floods.

This intervention has been crucial, especially, for those who have developed severe respiratory symptoms due to the unsanitary conditions caused by the flooding. Dr. Cardozo and her team are committed to providing ongoing medication and medical guidance to prevent additional health complications, ensuring necessary care for the entire affected population.
