A 21-year-old man, whose initials are LAI, who is being investigated for having tried to steal a motorcycle in the city of Santa Fe, was remanded in preventive detention. The precautionary measure was ordered by the judge of the Preparatory Criminal Investigation (IPP), Celeste Minniti, in a hearing held in the courts of the provincial capital.

The investigation is in charge of prosecutor Rosana Peresín and prosecutor Manuel Cecchini, who requested that the accused be deprived of his liberty, a proposal to which the Defense did not oppose.

In this sense, it considered that the necessary conditions were met to impose preventive measures for the entire duration of the judicial process and granted the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutor Peresín pointed out that “around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday the 1st of this month, the investigated person and a minor teenager intercepted a man and a woman who were on board a motorcycle in the vicinity of Callejón Aguirre at 5,000.”

Peresín stated that “from another motorcycle, the accused and his companion threatened the victims while demanding that they hand over their vehicle,” and added that “the person who remained in custody made gestures as if he had had a firearm in his clothing.”

“Although the investigated person and the teenager tried to take the other person’s vehicle, they were unable to do so due to a technical problem,” he specified. “A few blocks away, the motorcycle’s current cut-off mechanism was activated and the defendant discarded it on public roads,” he stated.
