Magdalena registers zero deaths of pregnant women so far in 2024

According to official figures, in the department of Magdalena the number of pregnant mothers with more than four prenatal check-ups increased by 84%. This medical care has allowed maternal mortality cases to be reduced by 100% so far in 2024.

The record of zero deaths of pregnant women, so far this year, is a historic figure for Magdalena, compared to previous years. According to the Departmental Health Secretariat and the National Health Ministry, This reduction has been achieved thanks to the ‘Doctor in your house’ program, which provides home health care to the most remote areas of the department that, due to their geographical location, find it difficult to access medical care in a timely manner.

In other figures, at the end of 2023 and compared to 2019, the infant mortality rate was reduced by 14.95%. The teen pregnancy rate dropped by 5%. The number of suicides went from 4.06% to 2.50%, thanks to the mental health component contained in Médico en tu Casa.

“We speak with results, they are the ones that validate the true Change that we achieved and continue to achieve. The people deserve dignity and more opportunities, returning to the past would be a serious harm to future generations,” said Governor Rafael Martínez.

Through resolution 1032 of the Ministry of Health, Magdalena has achieved the allocation of $28,786 million, resources that allow the delivery of 145 basic health equipment with more than 1,800 professionals who will continue to reach every corner of the department.

Likewise, the Ministry of Health has confirmed that it will provide more resources to expand the number of teams, thus reaching 225. Health care coverage is projected for the next 4 months of more than 115,000 citizens served. for a total of 57,000 families, within the framework of the ‘Médico en tu Casa’ program.
