Members of the Colombian Bar Association protest in the facilities of the Palace of Justice in the city of Cúcuta, responding to a call made at the national level.

They demonstrate against the Superior Council of the Judiciary as allegedly responsible for the poor functioning of the Judicial Branch, in addition to the poor implementation of new technologies.

“We thought that with the use of technology and smart devices this was going to be resolved, but it turns out that it has been a total failure, the platform constantly crashes, prevents public hearings from taking place, and if they are not held, they are postponed. and with postponements again and again, congestion is generated. Another big problem is the poor state of the furniture and technological elements, the courts are full of files everywhere since thousands and thousands of requests are received from lawyers that create congestion because the platform does not have an automatic mechanism,” Rafael told Caracol Radio. Humberto Villamizar, dean of the Colombian Bar Association.

In addition, changes to the platform and alleged mistreatment by superiors are part of the workers’ complaints.

“We also protest because there are judges who, with the excuse of teleworking, are very comfortably at home, on the beaches, on farms or in other places very different from those of the court and there is no effective control of the work that is being done. There are officials who treat lawyers very badly, there are forebear judges,” Villamizar pointed out.

They assure that the protests are carried out in a way that does not generate trauma in the attention of the Palace of Justice.
