Recognizing the greatness and excellent representation, the Mayor’s Office of Armenia honored Quindian world indoor soccer champions.

In an emotional ceremony, the Mayor of Armenia James Padilla García recognized the dedication and effort of coach Sebastián Vega and the players Juan Alejandro Beltrán Rojas and Jarlinson Misas Roa, three Armenians who make up the Colombia under 17 indoor soccer team, with the who were crowned world champions in Paraguay.

The mayor highlighted that these champions have not only achieved glory in their disciplines, but also represent the spirit of improvement and the pride of our neighborhoods.

Coach and players honored

Sebastián Vega began playing indoor soccer at the invitation of teacher and coach Francisco Javier Arias, founder of Real Cafetero, the city’s first professional indoor soccer team in 2012. There, he began his career as a technical assistant.

In addition, he was a coach at the club’s sports training schools, working on physical preparation and technical assistance. In 2014, he joined the Quindian league processes, directing both men’s and women’s teams in regional and national competitions.

He participated in the 2015, 2019 and 2023 National Games with the Quindío team, and in the most recent edition he won the gold medal for the department. In 2017 he took over as coach of the Caciques de Quindío club, currently considered the most important team in Colombian indoor soccer.

His dedication to the training processes was rewarded last month, when the Colombia Under-17 Team, under his direction, won the World Cup in Paraguay. In addition, he has been a mentor to many players, including the new promises of indoor soccer in the region, such as Jarlinson Misas Roa and Juan Alejandro Beltrán Rojas, who were part of the world champion team.

«The support that Imdera gives us is invaluable. We have had many facilities, such as practice scenarios. Furthermore, the Imdera schools are fundamental; “Jarlinson began his process there, then he joined the league and, thanks to his talent, he made it to the national team.”Vega stated.

The young Misas Roa, 17 years old, is one of the talents that emerged from the Imdera sports training schools, as highlighted by Vega, who recalled that the player started in the Las Colinas neighborhood team, led by the institute’s coach. Laura Molina.
