The director of the Specialized Gender Unit of the National Prosecutor’s Office, Ivonne Sepúlveda, traveled to the Local Prosecutor’s Office of Iquique in order to carry out training on the investigation of femicides aimed at prosecutors and lawyers in the Tarapacá region.

In the training called “Manual for the investigation of violent deaths of women for reasons of gender”, the director, together with the consulting lawyer Sebastián Aguilera, detailed the importance of incorporating the gender perspective in the first actions within the framework of case investigations. of femicides.

Likewise, the objective of the conference was to facilitate the identification of signs and indications of gender violence associated with femicidal contexts in the different phases of the investigation and to provide operational tools for inter-institutional coordination to address these cases.

In the instance, prosecutors were also able to delve into the recently enacted Comprehensive Law against Gender Violence, which represents a crucial paradigm shift to prevent, punish and eradicate all types of violence against women, adolescents and girls. “We also had the opportunity to comment on the main challenges that this law imposes on the Public Ministry, especially in relation to the protective aspects that this law establishes in a reinforced manner for women victims of gender violence,” said the director.
