The Ministry of Culture opened a call for local groups that will be part of the official programming of the Cali International Theater Festival

• The Cali Culture Secretariat opened the Call for Local Theater Shows of the 2024 International Theater Festival, to select the 25 shows that will be part of the Festival’s official programming.
  
• From June 22 to July 7, 2024, interested artists and groups may apply through the website www.culturaenlineacali.com
  
• The winners will receive a financial incentive and the possibility of having two performances, in different settings, during the Festival.

In Cali it already smells of wood and the perfume of the curtains, it tastes of makeup powder and fantastic stories, in every corner of the city you can feel the stage vibe and the pulsating energy of the audience begins to filter into each stage. In Cali the curtains are opening, because the wonderful Cali International Theater Festival 2024 is approaching and the call for local groups has already begun.

That’s how it is! From June 22 to July 7, 2024, the Cali Secretary of Culture opens the Call for Local Theater Shows to select the groups that will be in the official programming of the Cali 2024 International Theater Festival, which will take place from September 20 to 28, 2024.

“This is a representative process of the different theatrical manifestations of Santiago de Cali, which makes artists and cultural managers visible, but also strengthens them through the promotion of all cultural expressions with criteria of inclusion, innovation and representation of the scenarios We are going to give audiences a whole dynamic of cultural exchange and we are going to bring citizens closer to this beautiful art. Therefore, the invitation is for them to participate in this convocation process, so that Cali continues to vibrate with culture. general and of course, with the theater,” highlighted Leydi Higidio, Secretary of Culture of Cali.

The Festival, with the support of the Conceptual Committee, will select the team of three (3) juries through minutes; This will be made up of theater professionals with experience and proven track record, who will carry out a rigorous and sustained evaluation exercise to define the relevance, artistic quality, aesthetics and technical aspects of the different theatrical shows proposed in this call. At least 25 shows will be selected.

The selected groups will participate in the artistic programming of the Cali International Theater Festival, representing local performing artists. In addition, they will have recognition of their participation and credit in Festival publications related to the edition in which they are participants and the selected groups will receive financial recognition of $8,500. 000.oo for two (2) artistic presentations.

This call will be made according to the following criteria:

• Shows that wish to apply must demonstrate their premiere since 2014 and demonstrate a minimum of three (3) public presentations between 2022 and before the start of this call.
  
• The duration of the show must be greater than forty (40) minutes. If it is a microtheater, the number of works that make up the show must be greater than forty (40) minutes.
  
• The same actor or actress may participate in up to a maximum of two shows scheduled at the festival.
  
• Applicants may participate in this call with a maximum of one (1) show and likewise groups, with a single proposal.
  
• An artist may participate as director in up to a maximum of one show scheduled at the festival.
  
• The shows of theater groups or independent artists must have been created in Santiago de Cali. Half plus one of its members must be from Cali or carry out their work mainly in the city.
  
• Shows must be applied for in one (1) of the following modalities depending on their format:

   

  • Living room theater.
    
  • Street theater or in public spaces.
    
  • Theater in unconventional spaces.
    
  • Microtheater: Shows composed of two or more microtheater works.
