Artists and audiences of all colors at Morrete Fes

The Morrete Fest organized by the Gylda association filled the Muro del Revellín in Logroño this Saturday with a series of five concerts headlined by María Escarmiento and Chico Blanco, scheduled beyond the closing of this edition. Before Nina Emocional, Lil Ella and Trashi opened the day in a festival atmosphere that progressively gathered audiences until the Revellín parking lot was filled.

Nina Emocional performed alone on stage, singing and controlling the bases, offering electronic music in the style of Lana del Rey but with a kind of Victorian curtain as a skirt. The ‘queer’ artist sang just enough, since her voice was barely audible amidst all the sound effects of her experimental electronic pop, but the truth is that to be more alone than one on stage she defended the song quite worthily. her proposal.

In the song ‘2035’, yes, Nina Emocional was accompanied by another ‘queer’ artist, Hadren, to perform a simple choreography because his contribution to the song was recorded. Afterwards the concert delved into a dense ‘techno’ heavily supported by audiovisuals with attractive images of female athletes in different jumps.

The Morrete Fest has managed to normalize and fully integrate the LGTBIQ+ community with a program that brought together all types of audiences, with different ages and sexualities. The audience was so diverse that for a few moments people with hair of up to five different colors were gathered in the front row: white, green, blonde, black and red. It is even worth recognizing the merit of having obtained the sponsorship of La Rioja Tourism, which placed a banner in the front row and projected videos promoting the community, from the little that has been seen done by the General Directorate of Tourism of the Government of La Rioja in a whole year.

Of course, within festivals like this LGTBIQ+ culture sometimes artistically weak proposals sneak in with, apparently, the only merit of coming out of the closet. An example is Lil Ella, who after a DJ Juguete session appeared on stage and performed with Autotune even when she was speaking to the audience between songs. That was when she sang, which was the least of the time because she practically dedicated herself to doing the choruses on the recording and moving her hips. There were those who, having just arrived from Queens of Stone Age’s live performance at the Azkena in Vitoria, when making the comparison, were left speechless with “intimate reggaeton.”

The Morrete Fest concludes this Sunday with the ‘Family Camp’ day, with workshops from 11:00 a.m., concert by Amadeus Aula Creativa and Fundación Big Band at 12:00, ‘arrozada’ and performance by the batucada K-Boom.
