The explosion, which occurred on Friday, June 21, caused significant damage to the area. In videos broadcast on social networks, the magnitude of the attack can be seen: vehicles destroyed, with splinters and broken glass, as well as facades of affected homes, many of which lost windows and roofs.

In the midst of the pain and tragedy left by the recent car bomb attack at the El Remolino Police substation, in the municipality of Taminango, not only is the loss of human life lamented, three faithful pets also lost their lives in this terrorist act. .

Reaction of the Government of Nariño

On Saturday, June 22, the Government of Nariño issued a statement strongly rejecting the terrorist act. Governor Luis Alfonso Escobar Jaramillo expressed solidarity with the victims and their families.

Among the deceased are a merchant, an active member of the National Police (Santiago Juseph Moreno) and a third unidentified person.

The Government also wished a speedy recovery to the injured and announced a reward of up to 50 million pesos for information leading to the capture of those responsible.

The statement highlighted the negative impact of these violent acts on efforts to consolidate peace in the department. “We categorically reject this insane act perpetrated at a time when “that from the Departmental Administration we develop actions to consolidate Peace scenarios in Nariño, with the conviction of safeguarding the life of each person,” the document highlighted.
