CORE Ricardo Herrera Floody asks to add Costa Araucanía to the National Sports Games

Unanimously, the plenary session of the Regional Council of La Araucanía approved the proposal presented to this instance by Councilor Ricardo Herrera Floody, to request the inclusion of the coastal communes of the province of Cautín, as venues for the National and Paranational Sports Games. 2024, which for its execution will receive a contribution of one billion pesos from the Regional Government of La Araucanía.

“I have requested the plenary session of the Regional Council that the Araucanía Coast be considered as the headquarters of the national sports games, since to this day only Temuco, Padre Las Casas, Pucón and Villarrica are considered, and it seems logical to us that they also can extend to the coast, since there are several disciplines that could perfectly be accommodated, such as table tennis, BMX cycling, road cycling, or basketball, for example,” said Herrera Floody.

The counselor said that, in the context of these games, the Araucanía Coast also needs an opportunity for its development, “we have the conditions, there is first-class infrastructure and many entrepreneurs who would see this as an incentive, as support, for Therefore, this request has been raised, which has been collected and approved by the Plenary Session of our Regional Council, and our governor who has committed to making arrangements with the Minister of Sports to extend these national games to our communes,” he stated.

This event, which takes place every two years, is promoted by the National Sports Institute, IND, the Regional Government of La Araucanía and the Municipality of Temuco, and will take place between September 22 and October 5 in different cities of the region, with the participation of more than 3 thousand athletes, who will compete in 14 disciplines, including athletics, handball, judo, karate, taekwondo, table tennis, rugby, swimming, floor volleyball, 5×5 basketball, 3×3 basketball , tennis, rhythmic gymnastics, weight lifting and cycling.
