Ibagué News: The folklore tradition is lived throughout Tolima

An example of this is the folklore of the Rosarista School of Ibagué, its administrative director, Ancizar Cuasmayán, told Alerta Tolima about this beautiful tradition: “The young people prepare two months in advance and create the choreographies themselves, choose their representative, do research on the region that corresponds to them, its traditions and gastronomy. For us it is very important that the tradition is not lost and that it is lived with fervor, consciously. A month before we already have permission to do our parade, which goes from Calle 7a and Segunda, down to Calle 11, turn left to exit onto Carrera 3a, along this road to the Race 7 and again to Race Second. This year we had three floats, which, thanks to Martha Arbeláez, we decorated with typical elements and the troupes danced along the route. Once back at the School, the representatives of both Primary and Secondary School. Secondary performed the interpretation of El Contrabandista, while they changed and prepared for their dance, the families and the juries toured the different stands in the Peace Hall and after a musical intervention, the troupes performed their presentation, the winner was from Primary With the Guneña, both the presentation itself and the clothing, they represented the Black and White Festival. This year the winner was the representative of 10° who also gained knowledge and booth, they represented the Vallenata Legend Festival. For us as an Educational Institution, cultivating the tradition and folklore of Tolima is a priority, we must not forget that these festivals were created 65 years ago to bring peace and today they are once again relevant due to the situation in the country.”
