With a resounding 3-0, the Polish team destroyed the Olympic dream of Cuban volleyball, whose men’s team was left without any chance of Paris 2024.
Partials of 25-17, 27-20 and 25-20 faithfully show the reality of what happened on the field, with the presence of a Cuban nationalized as Polish.
Wilfredo León, against his former teamled the European offensive with 16 units in total, 14 of them as a result of their lethal attack.
For Cuba, the best scorer was captain Miguel Ángel López, with 9 points, accompanied by Michael Sánchez, Robert Landy Simón and Marlon Yant, each with 7 points.
The result left Cuba without the possibility of accessing the Olympic quota, which seemed complicated beforehand, since those from the island needed a combination of results to get closer to the classification position, held by Serbia.
Throughout the tournament, those led by coach Jesús Cruz were unstable, several defeats and too many mistakes took them out of a “safe” position, due to the tension of the last games.
