Rodrigo Contreras was crowned champion of La Vuelta a Colombia 2024

At 30 years old, Rodrigo Contreras achieves another great achievement during 2024, the Cundinamarca cyclist who had already struck a blow by winning the title of the Tour Colombia 2.1 over great riders such as Richard Carapaz or Egan Bernal, now also became champion of La Vuelta a Colombia.

Contreras from the NU Colombia team, won the title after winning the general classification over Diego Camargo who was 2′ minutes and 59” seconds away and against Wilson Peña who was almost 4′ minutes behind the champion.

To achieve this title, Contreras gave everything in the last fraction and took the victory, setting the best time in the time trial finishing at Alto de Las Palmas in Medellín. Rodrigo left a record of 40 minutes and 53 seconds, with this he gained more than a minute advantage over Diego Camargo who was second in this ninth stage.

Contreras kept the leader’s shirt from the first day of competition when he had won the individual time trial that was held in Macanal, Boyacá. The Cundinamarca native won the championship after what was his second place in this competition the previous year when Miguel Ángel ‘Superman’ López had won.
