Olga Lidia Priel, vice coordinator of the associations of compatriots in the center and south of this European nation, highlighted in statements to Prensa Latina that commissions have already been created aimed at guaranteeing the success of the next Meeting of Cuban Residents in Europe (ECRE), which will be will celebrate next year in Rome.

Priel, who presides over the Intercultural Center For a Dwarf Prince, based in the city of Iesi, in the central province of Ancona, pointed out that, in an activity of that group, held the day before, the results of this year’s work were addressed. , in which important initiatives were developed.

At that event, which celebrated the first anniversary of the founding of the new headquarters of that center, the work carried out there to strengthen ties between the peoples of Cuba and Italy was highlighted, with a political and cultural focus.

An exhibition of the Italian painter Sergio Osimani, founder of that association created in 1997, which unites nationals of both countries, was inaugurated, with works made by him in the worst moments of Covid-19, when Cuban medical brigades provided their help to the Italian town in the northern cities of Crema and Turin.

Priel valued the results of the XVI ECRE that with the slogan “Cuba unites us” took place on May 17 and 18 in Madrid, Spain, during which the Italian delegation had a notable participation, along with representatives of associations from Spain, France , Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Turkiye.

Among other actions, the painter, screen printer, designer and muralist, Ascanio Cuba, resident in Milan Italy, donated a work to the Embassy of his country in Spain, which is part of his Climbing the Future project, which was inspired by a call to unity and dignity, just as he sent a silkscreen to the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

There they signed a letter to the US president, Joe Biden, where they demanded that he end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the island, as well as demanding that Cuba be excluded from “the spurious list of countries supposedly sponsoring terrorism.”

One of the most emotional moments was the selection of Rome as the next headquarters of the ECRE, said the activist, who pointed out that among the first steps towards that event a national meeting will be held in the month of October of this year. , based in the city of Bari, in the southern region of Apulia.

“We proudly receive the flag of the ECRE of Rome 2025,” said Priel, who pointed out that at the next preparatory meeting in Bari, the representatives of the various associations, integrated into commissions, will launch the lines of work, objectives and planning, to guarantee the success of this regional meeting.
