Video: Shocking collision of two buses left eight people injured in Santander

A lane invasion caused a collision between two intermunicipal transport buses on the Magdalena Medio Trunk, in Santander. The victims were taken to the Barrancabermeja medical center.

Eight people were injured in a serious collision between two buses at kilometer 144 of the road section between Río Ermita and La Lizama, Las Margaritas sector of Barrancabermeja, Santander.

The emergency occurred in the early hours of this Sunday, June 23, when a tree fell on the road corridor in question, as a result of heavy rains.

The Transit and Transportation Section of the Magdalena Medio Police indicated that this caused the vehicles to stop moving and create a waiting line. In the dam there was a Copetran bus, registration TTX-332.

At that moment, another intermunicipal transport vehicle, with license plate TLP-499 and assigned to the Omega company, was traveling through the area and after performing some overtaking maneuvers, collided with the Copetran bus.

“The Omega company bus travels in the same north-south direction and when it reaches the end of the line, the driver does not notice the vehicles stopped due to the rain, having to maneuver to avoid hitting the rear with a tractor truck and, when performing that evasive maneuver, invades the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the Copetran company bus,” the Police report reads.
