NEW DIRECTIVE OF THE PATAGONIA PARKS ROUTE PROGRAM SEEKS TO POSITION CHILE IN CONSERVATION TOURISM

The Corfo program covers more than 2 thousand kilometers and 17 parks in the regions of Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes, with the aim of promoting sustainable tourism and local economic development.

The third session of the Executive Committee of the Patagonian Parks Route Program was held, an innovative Corfo project aimed at turning Chile into the main world tourist destination in conservation.

During this session, Rafaelle Di Biasse, representative of the private sector of the Los Lagos Region, was elected as president of the committee. Gonzalo Fuenzalida, from the Chile Nativo company in the Magallanes Region, was named first vice president, and Jasmia Yañez, from the Zoit Chelenko Corporation in the Aysén Region, assumed the position of second vice president.

The president of the program highlighted Chile’s advantageous position to lead the world in conservation tourism. “Our country is in an advantageous position to position itself worldwide as the first tourism destination as a result of conservation.”

PATAGONIA

The program brings together 14 representatives from the public, private, academic and civil society sectors, with the aim of developing a tourist destination focused on nature and the conservation of terrestrial and coastal ecosystems. Its mission is to transform Patagonia into a global model of collaborative, responsible and sustainable management, involving local communities and improving the competitiveness of tourism and the regional economy.

Humberto Marín Leiva, director of Corfo Aysén, highlighted the importance of collaborative work within the Patagonia Parks Route Program. “Collaborative work is the heart of our project. In the Patagonian Parks Route, we have managed to bring together various actors in society to create a tourist destination that not only protects our natural heritage, but also promotes the economic development of our local communities,” said Marín, highlighting that This initiative not only aims to boost and improve the competitiveness of tourism in Patagonia, but also to strengthen the local economy and preserve Chile’s valuable natural heritage.

For her part, Jasmia Yañez Henríquez, president of the Sustainable Tourism Corporation of the General Carrera Lake basin – Patagonia Aysén (Chelenko Corporation), has assumed the important responsibility of territorial representation for the Aysén region as second vice president. He detailed his commitment to “maintaining the voice of the communities, from living harmoniously, in this space and in all those in which I participate,” emphasizing that “people first” is an essential principle for the well-being of the ecosystem, responsibility with future generations and good living in Patagonia. “In this context, the Park Route Program presents a challenging roadmap for the best possible management, with the aim of conserving and sustainably using this immense and rich macrozone.”

ROUTE OF THE PARKS

The project covers the regions of Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes, extending over more than 2 thousand kilometers and including 17 parks, private wild conservation areas and various coastal, marine and terrestrial ecosystems. These territories include the last temperate rainforests and subantarctic forests, offering destinations and experiences that are at the forefront of global tourism.

With its sights set on 2035, the Park Route Program aims to become a world-renowned tourist destination in nature conservation. It stands out for its collaborative and sustainable management and its positive impact on local communities.
