More details of the homicide of ‘Chica Linda’, the mysterious man who had arrived in Ibagué for some time

Last Sunday, June 23, around 6:15 in the afternoon, Rubén Villarraga, a 34-year-old man from Purificación, was shot dead while traveling in a blue Jeep Rubicon in the El Vergel neighborhood of Ibagué. The attack occurred near the María Reina Church, in commune 6 of the city.

Villarraga, known in Purificación as ‘Chica Linda’, had moved to Ibagué approximately six months ago and had rented a studio apartment in the Ikara complex. Despite his apparent business dealings in Cali, his past was marked by legal problems: he had five charges for fraud, two complaints for falsification of a public document, one for trademark falsification and one more for violation of another’s room.

On the day of the attack, Villarraga was not alone. He was traveling with his stepfather, a woman and a two-year-old baby, who fortunately were unharmed. According to preliminary reports, ‘Chica Linda’ received several gunshot wounds, leaving him seriously injured in his vehicle, which stopped on the road after the attack. Despite the efforts of the authorities and emergency services, Villarraga died at the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive for the murder and search for those responsible for the crime. This fact has generated commotion in the Ibagué community, especially among the residents of the El Vergel neighborhood.
