Armies of Chile and the United States will carry out a test in Magallanes to test capabilities in cold weather

1,200 troops from the Special Operations Forces of the Chilean Army and the United States Southern Special Operations Command (Socsouth) will carry out the combined exercise Pacific Dagger 2024 which will test its capabilities to operate in cold weather scenarios.

According to what was published by Infodefensa.comAccording to the Chilean Army, the main objective of the Pacific Dagger exercise is to evaluate the capabilities of troops in adverse weather conditions and inhospitable scenarios. In addition, it seeks to improve interoperability between Chilean and US forces and strengthen combat skills in various tactical situations.

For the host institution of the exercise, this activity is an example of the high level of cooperation that exists between the Armed Forces of Chile and the United States, and demonstrates the ability of both countries to work together in special operations in challenging environments.

The command post of the Combined Joint Task Force (CJSOTF) of the Pacific Dagger 2024 exercise will be located at the Lautaro Special Operations Brigade (BOE) Lautaro in the Colina commune, in Santiago.

In this regard, Colonel Davor Versalovic of the Chilean Army, who is part of the management team, highlighted that “the United States Armed Forces and its Special Forces are always at a very high level of updating and operability and that allows them, Through this exchange of experiences and combined work, we can update our units on the latest in procedures, technologies and use of special operations forces.”
