CSIF denounces a new collapse in the San Pedro Emergency Room

The Independent Trade Union Center and Civil Servants (CSIF), the most representative union in the administrations and with a growing presence in private companies, has once again denounced this Monday a new “collapse, saturation, overload or however the Administration wants to determine it.”

According to their data, at 2:20 p.m. 35 patients were waiting for a hospital bed, of which only 4 have an assigned bed and are still waiting to be transferred to the ward. 12 patients were in the prehospitalization (PH) service, some of them waiting for a bed since June 21.

The areas enabled as ‘bed 3’ in the Contingency Plan, which are extra beds enabled for patients awaiting admission, are already 8 open, and 9 ambulances were waiting at the emergency door

With these figures, now the Administration “can define the situation with whatever term it wants, but the reality is that only thanks to the extra effort and professionalism of the Riojan health workers is it being able to respond to the situation.”

«Workers – they add – who have been mistreated for years and not being listened to. Suffering working and economic conditions that mean that as soon as the opportunity presents itself, they go to work in other communities.

For CSIF, it is necessary that “once and for all”, the Administration takes action on the matter and increases staff, develops a new RPT appropriate to the current situation and improves the working and economic conditions of workers. “If we do not get to work, the flight of professionals, which is already a reality, will continue to grow and Riojan health will not be able to provide quality service.”
