Carlos Guido Pérez Hernández (62) is the full name of the man from San Juan arrested for the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña in Corrientes. Now new information has emerged about the retired ship captain’s connection to the province: according to departmental sources, he is a native of Jáchal, in the Villa Mercedes area, where his parents lived.

From those around them they pointed out that Pérez was born on August 6, 1961 and as a young man he left in search of more opportunities. Thus he entered the Naval Military School in January 1980, during the period of the military dictatorship.

The former ship captain involved in Loan’s disappearance graduated as a midshipman in 1982, the year of the Falklands War. Among other destinations, he was director of Supply of the Navy. He retired in September 2017 with the rank of captain, by voluntary decision, after 37 years of service, including those corresponding to his training at the Naval Military School.

His last assignment was head of Audit of the General Inspectorate of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces. He belongs to class 111 of the Naval Military School, where he also completed his professional training as an accountant. In the professional ranks he was part of class 69.

Although during his years in the Navy he was away from San Juan, sources said that he never lost contact with his family and that he visited on several occasions. They also revealed that she recently came with his wife, Corrientes municipal official Victoria Caillava – also detained – to buy one or more land in the area of Riveros Street, about 5 kilometers north of the center of Jáchal.

The spokesmen indicated that the couple arrived in San Juan last summer, in a white van that could be the one that was kidnapped and linked to the disappearance of the child.

Investigators point to the lunch shared by the minor’s relatives, other suspects, five minors, in addition to Loan at his grandmother’s house. After finishing eating, the six boys were taken to an orange grove with three adults, an uncle of the boy, Bernardino Benítez, Daniel “Fierrito” Ramírez and the second’s wife, María del Carmen Millapi.

According to the hypothesis, while the children were playing, Loan was separated from the rest and taken back to the house. The then municipal official María Victoria Caillava and her husband, Carlos Pérez, a retired ship captain, were waiting for them there, who participated in the lunch and had left with the excuse of going to watch the River game. Immediately, the boy was loaded into a white Ford Ranger truck, owned by the couple, and taken to the town of 9 de Julio where he was transferred to a red Ford Ka in which it is suspected that he was taken to Resistencia, Chaco.

This Sunday, intense hours were experienced again in Resistencia, after the collaboration of the Chaco Police and the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) was requested to raid properties linked to the former sailor Pérez. Specialized agents from the Complex Investigations Department and Canes Department joined the raids, providing expert tracking dogs and highly trained human resources.

Two homes were raided: one on 1310 Humaitá Street, Villa Itatí, where the former military man’s ex-wife resides; and a rented apartment on 915 Necochea Street, in the Juan Pablo II Tower, where it is suspected that Peña and Caillava were staying, they entered on Friday and left on Saturday at the Ford Ka, where dogs smelled Loan.

It is not ruled out that the minor may have been transferred to Paraguay for trafficking purposes.
