Boric questions the lack of agreements on security: “The bombastic ads are of no use” | National

This Monday afternoon, the President Gabriel Boric referred to the problem of security and organized crime. In that context, he asked that those who have voices contribute to solving those kinds of problems.

The above occurred during his speech at the 91st Anniversary ceremony of the Investigative Police (PDI).

In the instance, the head of state began by saying that “there are two battles that go hand in hand.” Specifically, the material security -which is the main concern of citizens- and the perception of security.

Organized crime and security

Immediately afterwards, President Boric addressed the problem of organized crime and said that “from the Government, but above all from the State of Chile (…) we are not available to accept it”.

“Here we are not going to normalize crime, nor new forms of crime and organized crime” and “Security is a State project, it goes beyond the four years that a government lasted”he added.

Therefore, in the opinion of the president, “it is important that All of us who have a spokesperson today in our society, let us contribute to solving the problems that we face as a country in terms of security.”

“The bombastic or more controversial spots that can get more clicks on a page are of no use. What matters is working together for the solution and to guarantee the safety of our inhabitants,” he added.

Support from the political world

Then, the authority highlighted the importance that “from the political sphere there is firm support, in this case the PDI, in being able to continue fulfilling that”.

“As a government we have been concerned about providing a support to the detectives of the Investigative Policewhich does not consist only of words of good intentions but also translates into resources,” he assured.

In this way, he commented that “when we say to Parliament, to Chilean society, that the State of Chile needs more permanent resources to be able to solve problems (…) such as security or health, it is that It’s hard to understand why it took us so long to reach an agreement.”.

“In the end what we are talking about is provide better conditions, infrastructure, equipment, greater securityto the same police officers who provide us with security,” concluded the President of the Republic.
