He San Luis Potosí Center for the Arts continues with its activities and exhibitions, one of which will be inaugurated next Friday, June 27, named “Sementera. Teenage drawings” by the artist Francisco Toledo, this in the Plaza Centenario of this venue starting at 7:00 p.m., with free entry for the general public:
Sementera, belonging to the Ponce Kurczynl collection, is the act of scattering seeds in a fertile space, germination is the general objective and growth is the expected effect: the birth of all fruit.
This is how this exhibition shows us the first conceptual achievements of the artist: his first seeds launched from what later germinated into a vast career, full of signs, poetics and outrages against the drawing norms and social conventions of the second half of the 20th century.

This series of drawings brings us closer to one of the most important demystifications in the study of Toledo’s work. They confront us with the most primitive aspect of an artist in training: the sementera, the initial and innocent enthusiasm of any young man who has resolved himself to the most transcendental act of courage in his life: the decision to live for art.
Most of the drawings on display were made in the home of the Medleg family – a friend of the artist’s family – in the late 1950s and early 1960sduring Toledo’s first stay in Mexico City.
They show the work that a young man from Oaxaca produced in the discovery of his creativity, from the representation of his world. With pen, pencil or ink, Toledo represented people around him, everyday scenes, common objects and animals.
