Nine critical points along the Magdalena River in the southern part of the department have been identified, so the Atlantic government is carrying out risk mitigation works in the face of the rising level of the Magdalena River.

This was expressed by Governor Eduardo Verano, who specified that the reports on measuring the water level indicate that the river rises between 3 and 5 centimeters daily. The most recent measurement at the point between Calamar, Bolívar and Suan, in the Atlantic revealed that the river is 6 meters and 20 centimeters.

Despite this growth, the river is not at the level it was in 2010 when the winter tragedy occurred, said Governor Verano, who acknowledged that it is estimated that the level could reach between 9 meters and 20 centimeters. and 9 meters and 30 centimeters.

Given this, preventive actions are being taken, said the departmental leader. Verano De la Rosa also considered that the help that the National Risk Management Unit can provide is important.
