This is the peak and plate for today Tuesday, June 25, in Medellín

05:00 AM

This Tuesday, June 25, the Pico y Placa in Medellín and the rest of the municipalities of the Aburrá Valley apply for private cars whose plates end in numbers 1 and 4 and for motorcycles whose identification begins with those same digits.

Consequently, drivers of vehicles that meet this condition must leave them well stored in their respective parking spaces, at the risk that if they do not do so they may be subject to a fine or even immobilization of the car or motorcycle. The time in which the measure applies in these cases is between five in the morning and eight at night.

In the case of taxi-type public service vehicles, the restriction on mobility is in force for those with license plates ending in zero, but from six in the morning to eight at night.

Readers must be attentive, since the order in which the Pico y Placa that began last February 5 is required will almost change. This change is expected to occur on July 5 by agreement of the ten municipalities that make up the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area.

It is worth remembering that this measure is intended to improve vehicle flow in this jurisdiction, given the insufficient number of days available due to the increase in cars and motorcycles circulating through this jurisdiction.

But, in the process, it aims to improve air quality, which has suffered deterioration, under the logic that cars stopped on their heels pollute more.

The restriction applies in the territories of Medellín, Envigado, Itagüí, Sabaneta, La Estrella, Caldas, Bello, Copacabana, Girardota and Barbosa.

There are vehicles that do not have to comply: electric, hybrid and natural gas cars that have an updated traffic license.

Likewise, vehicles dedicated to emergency care, that provide personalized and/or home medical care, that are dedicated to work related to the rescue of organs and tissues or their transplantation.

Also, vehicles transporting food and/or perishable items; cargo vehicles, those dedicated to the provision of public services, those owned by media outlets and those serving national security and public order organizations.

The list is completed by transit vehicles, those in which sick and/or disabled people are transported, valuables and security cars, cars with armor equal to or greater than level 3 and hearses.

Violation of the license plate measure can generate a financial penalty equivalent to 15 minimum daily wages and the possible immobilization of the vehicle.
