The theft of a car mirror in Caobos neighborhood and the victim’s curiosity to locate that auto part took her to the sector known as ‘El Triángulo’, located near the Lineal park, where she finally found it and had to pay to put it back in her vehicle.

This fact helped the units of the Sijín of the Metropolitan Police of Cúcuta (Mecuc) to locate seven members of the criminal gang known as ‘The Always’, who would be dedicating themselves to the auto parts theft business.

After monitoring the suspects for a few months, last Friday at 10:30 in the morning, Sijín units arrived at ‘The triangle’, where they finally captured Óscar Galvis Pabón, known as ‘Tula’; Kendy Leonardo Puentes Vargas, alias ‘Maracucho’; Wuinder Rafael Hernández; Jeison Damián Antolínez, ‘Burro’; Tulio Figueroa Rojas, ‘Peluca’, and Marlon Orlando Mendoza.

The operation

With sufficient evidentiary material, Police units, in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office, They carried out several raid procedures in the premises that these people had in that sector of the central area of Cúcuta.

At the same time, in the Playón – Santander, another of its members was captured, Carlos Enrique Vargas, alias ‘El Mono’. This man, presumably, would have wanted to step aside from the business, but he was still on the radar of the authorities.

The investigation lasted between six and eight months to find the suspects, who were already known for their alleged participation in the sale of stolen auto parts in Cucuta. This was stated by the Police.

Within this criminal gang, Óscar Galvis would allegedly be the leader and owner of the auto parts storage warehouses, while Kendy Puentes, apparently, was the second in command, in charge of coordinating and controlling the points of sale.

The investigators had several surprises during the investigations, as they learned that even under the Eustorgio Colmenares Baptista bridge there would be a place where their clients would go, regardless of the conditions of the place.

In the middle of the operation, the Police seized about 2,000 items of auto parts, between windows, mirrors, emblems, wheel covers, among others.

How do they commit crimes?

According to Colonel William Quintero Salazar, commander of the Cúcuta Metropolitan Police, ‘Los de Siempre’ allegedly used street residents to steal auto parts.

From them, those captured bought stolen items such as mirrors from high-end vehicles at a price between 10,000 and 20,000 pesos, which were later sold in the ‘The triangle’.

This criminal activity would be generating profits of up to $30 million per month, as established by the authorities.
