In a rare event, a woman gave birth to quadruplets in the city of Córdoba. They are three girls and a boy: Laura, Angeline, Victoria and Jonás, who join the four older daughters that the mother has with her partner, natives of Chubut.
The probability of quadruplets being born spontaneously is one in 700,000 births, which makes this case truly exceptional.
The newborns, who came into the world prematurely, are currently on respirators at the Brigadier General Juan Bautista Bustos Provincial Maternity Hospital, but show signs of constant improvement. The girls weighed between 1,300 and 1,425 grams at 30 weeks of gestation, while the boy weighed 1,670 grams.
Although none of them are at the weight necessary to be discharged, they are all in good health. Due to the unprecedented case, a great procedure had to be deployed to receive the newborns.
Now, the family is made up of 10 members. One fact that caught our attention is that one of the girls born could become the goddaughter of President Javier Milei based on what is established by Law No. 20,843, enacted in 1974 during the government of María Estela Martínez de Perón.

The law states that the seventh male child or seventh female daughter of a family may be presidential godsons or goddaughters. Prior to the birth of the quadruplets, the family had four daughters, so one of the newborn girls could request presidential sponsorship from Javier Milei.
“Through decree 1416/2009 of ‘Presidential Sponsorship’, it is established that the couple that gives birth to the seventh son or daughter of a child of the same sex (they must be seven sons or seven daughters), can opt for the ‘moral’ patronage of the President of the Nation”, says the modification of the law.
And it adds: “The godson will have the right to have the national State ensure free completion of primary, secondary, university or special level studies that he or she takes in official educational establishments; regardless of the sex of the beneficiary.”

• Presidential sponsorship to “protect us from the wolf”
The law that determines that the acting president sponsors the seventh son or daughter of a family has its origins in the “magical protection” against a legend of the Argentine countryside, according to an article in Revista Noticias.
According to the legend of the wolf myth, on full moon nights they turned into wolves and killed all those who crossed them. The belief reached such a point that, according to history, the most superstitious have even sacrificed their seventh male children.
Many of the immigrants from Tsarist Russia knew the myth and tradition from the time of Tsarina Catherine the Great, where imperial sponsorship of the seventh children gave “magical protection” against these evils and prevented the abandonment of children.

The legend of the werewolf is the Argentine equivalent of the werewolf, depicted as a mix of a pig and a very hairy dog with large ears, which later regains its human form. If there were seven female daughters, the curse would fall on the seventh female daughter, transforming her into a witch.
In 1907, a German couple living in the Buenos Aires town of Coronel Pringles gave him sent a letter to José Figueroa Alcorta asking him to sponsor his son and save him from turning into a werewolf.
